Description

Antique satin walnut (satinwood) dressing table chest of drawers, made around 1910 probably. The base is a three drawer chest on turned feet, original metal handles. The top has a single jewellery drawer and shaped shelf with tilting central mirror above and two swivelling side mirrors. The base can be used by itself as a chest of drawers. Condition is fairly good structurally: it's solid and sound and the drawers work fine. Both side panels, which are veneered plywood, have become somewhat distorted at the top (see pics), though they seem stable and firm and it hasn't affected the overall structure. Cosmetically there are various signs of age: scuffs, dings and marks etc though it's mainly wear to the old varnish, and some darkening under the shelf. It could be stripped and refinished of course: it's a bit of a job though, especially on the mirror assembly. Better to appreciate its warm, worn charms and its realistic price..adjusted for the condition Dimensions: 91cm wide (105cm max with side mirrors out) x 44cm x 163cm high (base height 78cm)
